Portmeirion Group is proud to grow some of Britain’s most iconic homeware brands, rooted in a rich ceramic heritage that begins in Stoke‑on‑Trent, the historic heart of British pottery. Known globally as The Potteries and recognised as the World Capital of Ceramics, the city has shaped British craftsmanship for over 300 years.
Founded in 1960 by Susan Williams‑Ellis and her husband Euan, Portmeirion was built on a deep respect for tradition, design and innovation. Gray’s Pottery, a Stoke‑on‑Trent firm specialising in hand‑painted decoration, played a pivotal role in the company’s early story, supplying Portmeirion Village in the 1920s and later producing souvenirs designed by Susan herself. With the acquisition of Gray’s and a second local pottery, Portmeirion Potteries Ltd. was officially established in 1962, securing the ability to design and manufacture ceramics in‑house.
Today, Portmeirion Group PLC is renowned worldwide for bold, enduring creative design and exceptional quality. Its outstanding portfolio includes Portmeirion, Spode, Royal Worcester, Pimpernel and Wax Lyrical, alongside complementary homeware and fragrance brands. Together, these established names represent a combined heritage of more than 750 years.
Covering tableware, cookware, glassware, cutlery, textiles, placemats, coasters and accessories, Portmeirion Group is the leading destination for thoughtfully designed, beautifully crafted products. With innovation at its core and heritage as its foundation, the Group continues to create timeless collections for homes around the world.
