Penny Shaw to Retire as Managing Director of CardGains

Penny has been with Bridewell UK and CardGains for 27 years, working as Marketing Director before becoming Managing Director in 2022. Spring Fair, which takes place at the NEC in Birmingham from Sunday 1st February, will be her final time at this show with the business.

Explaining her decision, Penny said: “An imminent milestone birthday has prompted my decision to retire. This hasn’t been an easy decision, and it is, of course, with some sadness that I leave such a fantastic company and industry. After 27 years with Bridewell UK and CardGains, I have decided to focus on having more free time with friends and family.”

Her retirement follows a period of change for CardGains, including the recent rebrand, new website and the implementation of the Sage X3 system.

From July, current Financial Director Helen McManus will take over as Managing Director. Helen joined CardGains in 2023 and will continue working closely with the head office team as she moves into the role.

CardGains will also appoint a new senior team member to work alongside Helen as part of the management structure.

Penny added: “I wish Helen every success when she assumes the role. I’m confident CardGains will continue under her leadership. I’ll genuinely miss the industry and the many people who have become friends as well as colleagues and peers. I’m sure I’ll be seeing lots of people at Spring Fair, please come along to the CardGains Village at the front of Hall 3 to say hello – and goodbye!”
